Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession

CSMGEP was established by the American Economic Association (AEA) in 1968 to increase the representation of minorities in the economics profession, primarily by broadening opportunities for the training of underrepresented minorities. Comprised of economists from all areas of the profession, CSMGEP works to ensure that issues related to the representation of minorities are considered in the work of the AEA and engages in other efforts to promote the advancement of minorities in the economics profession. • The 2026 Minority Report is now available, highlighting the work of CSMGEP and its partner organizations. This year's issue showcases new research on topics such as health insurance participation, immigration policy, and minority-owned business dynamics; features profiles of emerging and established economists; and provides updates on CSMGEP programs—including the Summer Training and Scholarship Program, the Mentoring Program, and the Summer Economics Fellows Program.
  • The AEA Summer Training Program will be held at American University from June 1 – July 24, 2026!
