Subject: Annual Meeting Registration and Other Announcements
It’s not too late to register for the ASSA Annual Meeting. The fee for registration is $145. Register now at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference. Follow us on Twitter @ASSAMeeting to receive program updates and other developments before and during the meetings.
The AEA strongly discourages the use of regular hotel rooms for interviewing purposes. Interviews held in hotel suites are considered acceptable. In an effort to support this initiative, the suites in the conference block for the 2020 ASSA Annual Meeting were reserved for employers who will be conducting interviews. While most suites will have a completely separate area for interviewing, please note that some other suites will have partially visible beds but will be separate from the interviewing area.
The AEA Ombudsperson, Leto Copeley of Copeley Johnson and Groninger PLLC, will be available to all ASSA attendees during the 2020 Annual Meeting. There will be walk-in office hours and the ability to schedule appointments. To schedule an appointment, call or text 919-240-4263 or email aeaombuds@cjglawfirm.com. Office hours at the ASSA Annual Meeting and other details can be found at www.aeaweb.org/ombuds.
The AEA's 2020 Continuing Education Program will be held at the Westin San Diego Gaslamp on January 5-7, 2020, immediately following the close of the ASSA meetings. Participants can choose from three concurrent programs. Topics and speakers will include:
- Mastering Mostly Harmless Econometrics – Alberto Abadie (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Joshua Angrist (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and Christopher Walters (University of California, Berkeley)
- Monetary Policy – Gauti B. Eggertson (Brown University) and Jon Steinsson (University of California, Berkeley)
- Climate Change Economics – Lint Barrage (University of California, Santa Barbara), Michael Greenstone (University of Chicago), and Gilbert E. Metcalf (Tufts University)

Make sure to include time in your schedule to visit the poster exhibit, which will be located in the Marriott Marquis San Diego in the Grand Ballroom Foyer and West Lobby Lounge on the lobby level of the North Tower.
