The preliminary program is now available at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/2021/preliminary. Registered participants should watch email for details about the 2021 mobile app and virtual platform, which include the ability to create a schedule in advance, browse paper abstracts, take session notes, link your schedule across devices, and view the poster sessions as they become available. Stay tuned!

More than 200 Posters are included on the 2021 AEA program, and will be available for viewing throughout the conference. Don't forget to take time for this thought-provoking part of the meetings, and to take advantage of the chat feature in the virtual platform that allows you to ask questions and comment on the posters. 

The AEA's 2021 Continuing Education Program will be held virtually January 6-7, 2021. Participants can choose from three concurrent programs. Topics and speakers are:

• Industrial Organization – Steven Berry (Yale), Philip Haile (Yale) (This course will run January 6 – 8, 2021).
• Labor and Applied Econometrics – Patrick Kline (U California – Berkeley), Christopher Walters (U California – Berkeley)
• Markets for Innovation: Market Failures and Public Policies – Kevin Bryan (U Toronto), Heidi Williams (Stanford)

The Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP) invites you to attend its Annual Business Meeting and Award Ceremony during the 2021 ASSA meeting, where the Committee will honor the Elaine Bennett Prize and Carolyn Shaw Bell Award winners. It has also organized several research sessions, and will host a mentoring workshop for junior economists and a peer mentoring workshop for mid-career women. CSWEP is also pleased to announce that the application portal for the AEA Summer Economics Fellows Program is now open. The portal link can be found here. This program provides an opportunity for graduate students and junior faculty to work on a research project in a government agency, nonprofit organization, or other sponsoring research agency.

AEA's Committee on the Status of LGBTQ+ Individuals in the Economics Profession (CSQIEP) will host two “Pink Papers” research sessions and two virtual social hours at the 2021 AEA/ASSA meeting. One research session addressing LGBTQ-related topics in labor and education will occur Monday, January 4, 2021 at 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. EST. Another session addressing LGBTQ discrimination will occur Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 12:15 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. EST. All conference registrants are invited to attend these sessions. Virtual social hours will take place Monday from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. EST and Tuesday from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. EST.  Details will be sent via email to those on the CSQIEP Google Groups list. Attendance at the social hour does not require conference registration. The Association will host a webinar at 3:00 p.m. EST on Friday, January 8, 2021 where a panel will present information to help faculty assist in placing their students into PhD programs in economics, with a focus on increasing and diversifying the pool of applicants. Co-sponsored by the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession, the Committee on the Status of Minorities in the Economics Profession, and the Committee on Economic Education, the webinar will include presentations by John List (U Chicago), James Peoples (U Wisconsin-Milwaukee), Nancy Rose (MIT), Danila Serra (Texas A&M), and Dick Startz (U California-Santa Barbara), followed by questions from the audience. The Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession (CSMGEP) is pleased to announce that the application portal for the 2021 AEA Summer Program, to be hosted by Howard University in Washington DC, is now open. The AEA Summer Program is a prestigious program that uniquely enables students to prepare for the rigors of graduate studies—particularly at the PhD level—through two months of intensive training in microeconomics, math, econometrics and research methods with leading faculty. The tenth annual AEA Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education (CTREE) is June 2 – June 4, 2021 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Portland, Oregon. The conference is hosted by the AEA Committee on Economic Education (AEACEE) in conjunction with the Journal of Economic Education. Plenary speakers will be Betsey Stevenson (U Michigan) and John Taylor (Stanford). Nominations are now being accepted for the 2021 AEJ Best Paper Awards at https://www.aeaweb.org/aej/bestpapernominations.php. The awards will be announced in April 2021, selected from articles published in the 2018 through 2020 volumes of each AEJ.
