CSWEP Mentoring Breakfast for Mid-Career Economists
The American Economic Association’s Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP) is pleased to host the 9th Annual Peer Mentoring Breakfast for Mid-Career Economists to be held in conjunction with the 2023 upcoming AEA/ASSA Meetings in New Orleans, LA.
Registration for this event has closed.
This mentoring experience is intended for female economists who are tenured academics at either associate or full rank or non-academics who are 8+ years post-PhD. Mentors/table leaders should be senior women who are at the rank of full professor.
The event will open with two brief talks on mid-career issues by senior mentors (on topics suggested by participants). Each table will then have a Q&A session, facilitated by two senior mentors/table leaders.
The event will run in a single-two hour session, from 8:00-10:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in the Hilton Riverside New Orleans hotel on the third floor in the Jefferson Ballroom. Breakfast will be provided.
The schedule will be as follows:
8:00AM-8:10AM: Welcome/Breakfast
8:10AM-8:30AM: Senior Mentor Talks
8:30AM-8:50AM: Table Introductions: each person at the table will take 2 minutes to introduce themselves to the table.
8:50AM-10:00AM: Q&A: each participant will have 10-12 minutes to ask question(s) about the mid-career issues they are facing and receive feedback from their table participants and senior mentor/table leaders.
This event is not open to graduate students or junior faculty, who will find the mentoring breakfast for junior economists on Friday, January 6 from 8:00-10:00 AM CST a better match. Additionally, a second mentoring breakfast for junior economists will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, January 10th from 1:00-2:00 PM CST.
