Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), the first science and engineering university, was founded in 1940 in Yan’an, by the Communist Party of China. BIT is the first batch of universities that have entered the national “211 Project”, “985 Project” and the “Top A World-class University”.The disciplines of Social Science have entered the top 1% ESI international discipline ranking. The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is the construction point of Theoretical Economics and has a national first-class undergraduate program. Its Economics department was formerly the Political Economy Teaching and Research Office, established in 1953.
