Full Text of JOE Listing:

The American Enterprise Institute seeks candidates for the position of resident scholar and codirector of AEI's Center on Housing Markets and Finance. This is a senior research position with some managerial responsibilities. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in economics or finance and at least 10 years of post-Ph.D. job experience. We are looking for candidates with an established research program in housing and mortgage finance, a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, excellent communication and managerial skills, and the desire to influence thinking on public policy. The position is a full-time appointment with competitive compensation.

Established in 2013, the center pursues a policy-oriented research program with three primary objectives: to provide rigorous measures of risk in mortgage and housing markets, to foster a stable system of mortgage finance that promotes sustainable homeownership, and to explore market-oriented solutions to the shortage of affordable housing.

The incoming codirector would have significant responsibility for setting the center's research agenda and for working with center staff and outside scholars to carry out research projects. The results of this work would be presented in academic papers, nontechnical policy analyses, data releases and briefings, and oral communication with policymakers and journalists. The incoming codirector also would have managerial responsibilities that mainly involve supervising center personnel, planning conferences, and acquiring data.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a CV, and an original research paper with their online application at http://www.aei.org/jobs/.
