Belmont Abbey College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Economics, to begin August 2016. An earned doctorate and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching are required. The successful applicant will teach principles and possibly finance or international business. Teaching in both the day and evening programs, with a 4/4 load, is required. Service to the College, scholarly development; and contributing positively to the College’s mission are expected. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Belmont Abbey College does not sponsor employment visas.
The successful candidate will be able to teach economics in the context of the Catholic understanding of the human person. The successful candidate will also demonstrate commitment to an intellectual life consistent with the College’s identity as a Catholic, Benedictine school that aims to provide an excellent undergraduate education “in the liberal arts and sciences so that in all things God may be glorified.” Preference will be given to those candidates who demonstrate a philosophy of teaching and research that fits well with the institution’s emphasis on the education of the whole person, and with the approach to education expressed in St. John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
