The Poverty Global Practice of the World Bank invites applications for a short-term poverty economist position. The position is for 150 days, starting around September 1 and paying roughly $300 per day net of tax. The job entails co-authoring a paper that will produce and cross-validate small-area estimates of poverty in Pakistan, with primary responsibility for the empirical analysis. The ideal candidate is an excellent programmer with experience in econometric modelling in Stata in addition to strong writing skills. Familiarity with Pakistan and C or Mata programming are pluses. He or she is either a recent PhD, or a graduating PhD student with advisor approval, from a economics, statistics, or computer science department ranked in the top 100 worldwide.
