This position is located in the Bureau of Economics of the Federal Trade Commission. The Bureau of Economics provides economic analysis and support to antitrust and consumer protection investigations and rulemakings, advises the Commission and other government entities about the impact of government regulation, and analyzes economic phenomena in the nation's economy as they relate to antitrust and consumer protection policy. The Assistant Director for Antitrust provides leadership and oversight of the economic support to the Commission's antitrust mission. This support entails both statistical and analytical efforts to ascertain facts,provide a sound economic basis for actions, and dispel incorrect economic arguments. The Assistant Director also examines broad competition policy issues to provide evidence and analysis that will inform the Commission's policy development on significant
antitrust questions.
