Prestigious appointment in a leading Australian department of economics.
The University of Queensland has created a Chair named in honor of Colin Clark, to commemorate his long association with the University. This is the first named Chair to be created in the School of Economics, and celebrates one Australia's greatest economists. Colin Clark played a central role in the development of national income accounting. In 1984 was named by the World Bank as one of the pioneers of development economics. He was an honorary consultant in the UQ School of Economics from 1978 to 1989.
The UQ School of Economics is among the leading departments in Australia as evidenced by the 2012 Excellence in Research in Australia survey and the 2014 RePEc rankings. The School is ranked in the top five percent of economics research institutions internationally. The School has excellent researchers in econometrics, economic theory and a number of applied economics areas. The School is recognized internationally for its research strengths in microeconomic theory and efficiency and productivity analysis. The School hosts an ARC Australian Laureate Fellow and two ARC Future Fellows as well as a number of research academics working on externally funded projects. In addition to research, the School has a strong commitment to delivering high quality economics training. A number of the School's academic staff have won prestigious national teaching awards and our teaching programs benefit significantly from the high quality research being conducted in the School.
The School is seeking to appoint a Professor to fill the Colin Clark Chair. The appointment may be made in any field of economics.
Applicants should have an outstanding research publication record, established academic reputation and demonstrated excellence in teaching. It is expected that applicants will continue to excel in research and provide academic leadership and contribute to the excellent research and teaching environment within the School.
This is a full-time, continuing appointment at Academic Level E. A competitive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
