The Office of Economic Affairs in HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research anticipates openings for well-qualified economists (new graduate or mid-career) to work in its Housing Finance Analysis Division. Successful applicants will have strong applied research and writing skills and work with other Ph.D. economists on both short term qualitative and quantitative analyses and longer term in-house and contract research projects. The Division specializes in the subject areas of housing economics, homeownership, and primary and secondary mortgage market lending issues, including: analytical and operational issues related to mortgage market institutions and market efficiency; non-prime, minority, and low-income lending; credit scoring; single- and multifamily underwriting; appraisal; insurance; default and pre-payment experience; loss mitigation; asset and property disposition; etc. Salary will range from $75,621 to $138,136 commensurate with education and experience. U.S. citizenship is required.
