St. Edward's University is conducting a search for a Vice President for Financial Affairs, precipitated by the retirement of its current, outstanding vice president. St. Edward's is an independent Catholic university recognized for high-quality academic programs and characterized by its Holy Cross educational mission. The university is located in Austin, Texas, a thriving business community characterized by innovation, creativity and economic stability. Approximately 5,000 students representing 45 states and 51 countries attend St. Edward's. Over the last decade, the university has undergone a dramatic transformation that has included growing enrollment, beautiful additions to its campus, and a strategic enhancement and expansion of academic programs within the global community.
The university invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Financial Affairs (VPFA). The university's chief financial officer is responsible for the planning, integration and control of all of the university's financial resources. The role of VPFA will require specific emphasis on development of appropriate financial strategies to ensure the delivery of the university's strategic vision. His or her duties include oversight of multiple departments: Financial Affairs, Human Resources, Risk Management, Auxiliary Services, University Police and Physical Plant.
The Vice President for Financial Affairs provides exemplary leadership at an institution that has increasingly been recognized nationally for its financial strength and viability, its distinctive academic programs, and its globalization of university programs. The VPFA plays a significant role on the leadership team in its pursuit of the strategic vision of the university and reports directly to St. Edward's University President George Martin.
The successful candidate will have: appropriate academic credentials; a record of outstanding financial service and leadership at a dynamic university; the ability to engage in financial and business leadership with a style that is open, collaborative and transparent; the capacity for sharing in the creative and innovative planning of the university's global initiatives; a commitment to enhancing and perpetuating the Holy Cross tradition as an integral part of the university's Catholic heritage; and the commitment to engage in a sustained and effective manner with the president and senior leadership team, the campus community, and the Board of Trustees in the ongoing successful pursuit of the university's strategic goals.
