The Economics Department at Bates College, a private, highly selective liberal arts college in Maine, invites applications for an 80%-time, one-year replacement position as a lecturer. While all fields will be considered, there will be a preference for the fields of Macroeconomics, Behavioral Economics and Economic Development. A Ph.D. is preferred, but ABD will be considered. The person in this position will teach four courses, including at least one section of introductory micro or macroeconomics.
The college and the Economics Department are committed to enhancing the diversity of the campus community and the curriculum. We believe that campus diversity and educating a wide range of students contribute to student learning. Candidates who can contribute to this goal are encouraged to apply; the search committee expects candidates to identify their strengths and experiences in this area. Bates also has a strong tradition of interdisciplinary studies. We therefore seek candidates who can contribute to our interdisciplinary programs.
Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should submit electronically, in PDF form, to academicservices@bates.edu the following materials: a cover letter, curriculum vita, teaching evaluations, and three letters of reference. Please arrange with three recommenders to send letters of recommendation, also in PDF form, if possible. Please include in the subject line your last name and Economics R2530.
Bates is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Because the College recognizes that employment decisions often involve two careers, Bates welcomes applications for shared positions. For more information about the College and the Department, please visit the Bates website: www.bates.edu.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
